Medway Norse takes over more council services

April 2014

Medway Norse Ltd has strengthened its partnership with Medway Council with the award of Greenspace and Bereavement Services grounds maintenance works by the authority.

Medway Norse, a joint venture between Medway Council and Norse Commercial Services, has taken over the grounds maintenance at a multitude of local amenity, recreational, sports and urban grounds sites, and Bereavement Services grounds  around Medway.

The additional services are worth around £5 million to Medway Norse, taking the company’s annual turnover to over £12 million.

“We are delighted that the success of Medway Norse over the past nine months has given the Council the confidence to pass responsibility for delivering these extra services to us,” said Medway Norse Operations Director, Ian Price. “With the transfer of the additional resources we now also have the expertise to provide a wider range of services, to both private and public sector clients throughout the South East.”

“The expansion will also increase our contribution to the local economy through new employment opportunities and our local sourcing strategy,” he added

Medway Council's Portfolio Holder for Frontline Services Cllr Phil Filmer said: "I am pleased the partnership between Medway Council and Medway Norse continues to grow and that we are able to work together to deliver quality services."

Medway Norse also provides facilities management services that include cleaning, catering and maintenance for the council’s 140 buildings, and for other local public and private sector organisations.

Medway Norse now provides employment for approaching 500 people in the region.
